Due to significant increases in vaccinations, as well as our growing knowledge of their effectiveness and the resultant reduction in COVID-19 cases, Governor Northam is lifting most legal requirements in Virginia as of midnight, May 28, 2021, including mandates on social distancing and capacity restrictions.

This does not mean that we will be returning to our pre-pandemic operations. Instead, our in-studio class procedures have been updated to reflect the loosened COVID mitigation measures where appropriate. These procedures will take effect Tuesday, June 1. To view our quick 12-point guide, please visit: arlingtonkicks.com/return.

We will continue requiring masks for EVERYONE on our premises as long as the CDC recommends so for K-12 settings. Also, because the CDC continues to recommend masks for unvaccinated children, and not all children are eligible to be vaccinated, we will continue wearing masks. Again, EVERYONE (all staff, students, parents, visitors, etc.) must still wear a mask when at Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do Arlington.

Our class schedule will remain the same for now. This means that Zoom classes will still be offered for those who prefer to attend virtually. For those who prefer to attend in-studio, online reservations will remain a requirement. In-studio classes will still be limited in capacity but increased to a maximum of 15 (Floor A) and 20 (Floor B) students on each floor for each class. To accommodate this change, our taped-off “training squares” will be removed and replaced with designated markers on each floor. These “spots” will be identified by specific colors of tape and will be at least eight (8) feet apart, ensuring ample space for students to spread out. At this time, there will still be no close contact “partner drills” or sparring.

Only students and vaccinated instructors will be allowed on the mats during class. Instructors will return to hands on instruction and correction of students as necessary and appropriate.

As always, we appreciate your support and patience as we continue to navigate through these transitions together.

Thank you,
Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do Staff
